Pure Digital's Camcorder for CVS

FSP.BIN and USP.BIN

Pure Digital's software is controlled by two files. These files control the maximum recording time, recording resolution, and the lock/unlock code.

File USP.BIN is the file that is normally used, and is updated when the camera is used (either when a video is recorded or power turned off; I'm not sure).
File FSP.BIN is a backup version used in case USP.BIN has become corrupted.

another Magic Number?

Only a limited number of resolutions and frame rate combinations are allowed. The sensor size is 640x480, so higher resolutions are not needed. The default is 320x240x30 fps.

Corscaria discovered the initial resolution settings in this file - her announcement here.
GWRedDragon (aka Rick Mansfield) has released a program called USP Patch to modify a USP file. Discussion about this can be found here.
